Hedy’s Happy Holiday House (also known as "The Christmas Miracle" or "It's a Miracle") is the twelfth episode of Season 5 of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. It aired on November 19, 2012, and was the last episode of 2012.

Plot[]

Amy and Ricky open presents with John on Christmas Eve and discuss their past Christmas's. Ricky asks Amy what her biggest Christmas surprise was, and Amy replies that it is John. When asked what it was besides John, Amy says that it was her first French horn, and how she wanted a light blue bike, but Ashley had gotten one. Amy then had to have a dark green bike, which was a boy's bike. Ricky then tells her that he and juvie friends would break into a toy store downtown called Hedy's. He asks Amy to go, and Amy says she doesn't want to get arrested. Ricky says that it's okay for them to go, and they take John with them.

Grace holds a vigal by Jack's side, begging him to wake up. Adrian and Omar wait with her, before telling her of their Christmas plans: Go to Omar's mother's house for dinner, where Adrian's parents are going to be. Adrian, who didn't know this, is angry and demands to know if Omar intends to propose to her. He says that he already did, and is waiting for a "yes" from her. Clementine comes to see them, and she and Grace hug, showing that they've become friends. Clementine tells them about Hedy's, and Adrian says she wants to go, and that they should take Jack. They are stopped by a cop, who tells them to return him to the hospital, and Grace stays behind with him.

Ben and Chloe Boykewich, his sister, are allowed to go to Hedy's. When Chloe goes to get ready, Leo tells Ben to keep her out of the house so as him and Camille can decorate her room. Ben agrees, telling him that he hopes for a good Christmas.

Ricky calls Ethan and asks him to wear and bring a Santa suit down to Hedy's to play Santa for John. Ethan brings Kathy, who's parents are visiting and are annoyed that she left the house. She looks like she's in pain, and reveals that she needs to get to the hospital, as she is in labor.

Ben and Chloe return home, and Chloe is told by Leo and Camille, through a scavenger hunt, that her present is in her closet. When she opens the door, there is a little kitten in the basket, which she names Patches. Ben, meanwhile, through a scavenger hunt of his own, is told to go outside, where Henry and Alice pull up in a sleek, new car complete with a Christmas bow. Shocked, Ben is overwhelmed, especially when Leo and Camille separately pull up in the same car, just different colors, for Henry and Alice. They gleefully get behind their wheels, after thanking them both. Ben goes up to his dad and says thank you, and Leo explains that, as he is graduating that year, goodness knows where he'll end up, and that he should enjoy his present. Ben then turns to Camille, and says, "Thank you, Mom".

Meanwhile, George and Kathleen are trying to enjoy Christmas Eve when Anne, Robie, and Mimsy suddenly burst in unannounced. Kathleen, wearing a Santa's helper outfit, quickly runs out of the room to change when Anne tells George he is not to bring her to the big Christmas dinner at Amy's apartment. He says he wasn't planning to, and that, therefore, her girlfriend (Nora's sponsor) also isn't invited. Anne retaliates, saying that she is. Later, they enjoy drinks in front of the fire, as Nora teaches Mimsy a dance.

At the hospital, Kathy has safely delivered her daughter. Ethan asks her if she is ready, and she says that she is. He tells her to call him and leaves, leaving Kathy to hand her over to the adoptive parents. She apologizes that things didn't go according to plan, but that she knows they'll be good parents. They say that it doesn't matter, and that they know they will be. Then, the father says that they should name their daughter Hedy, after an aunt of his. He then reveals that his aunt owned the toy store.

Meanwhile, Tom is trying to convince Grace and Kathleen that Jack is awake. He asked him for a cookie, and, when Tom asks him again, Jack wakes up again. Grace, after greeting him with a kiss, thanks God as Kathleen calls his parents to tell them to come to the hospital for good news.

When they arrive back at the apartment, Ricky goes to put John to bed. Tired, Amy crosses over to the couch, and sees a pretty, light blue bike illuminated by the Christmas tree lights. When Ricky comes in, she asks him how it got there. Ricky, grinning, says that it must have been Santa. He wishes Amy a Merry Christmas as they share a kiss.
