"Just Say Me" is a The Secret Life of the American Teenager episode from season two.

Synopsis[]

We find Amy alone in bed before bedtime, desperately craving a glass of water. Or is she just lonely? She asks her sister to bring it to her, but Ashley happens to be on the phone with Ben, who tells Adrian via phone, and she rushes over from next door to bring the water—all because she's still relentlessly trying to get on Amy's good side.

That's on top of all the other nice things Adrian's been doing for Amy lately: buying gel inserts for her shoes and baking brownies! So when Adrian asks Amy to call Ricky and tell him they're friends now, Amy does, even though she knows she's kind of being played. When Ricky hangs up, he calls this new friendship a bad omen. Is it?

Well, as we find out the next day in high school, it is. Because Grace starts a new "Just Say Me" campaign to get the girls of Grant to give up boys for more, uh, self-directed pleasures. The M-word. When the guys first find out, they think it won't catch on. But soon enough, this little campaign—where girls swear off sex with guys—takes off like wildfire. It's helped along by Grant's local entrepreneur, Joe, who prints up about a million stickers and sells them for profit—much to Grace's irritation.

But just because it's a battle of the sexes doesn't mean everything's changed. For example, Amy tells Adrian straight up that she still doesn't trust her with John, no matter how much Adrian tries to buddy up. Amy just doesn't want another woman in John's life.

And speaking of things that haven't changed, Ben's feelings for Amy are pretty much the same, even if they are broken up now. When he runs into her after band practice, he tells her he'd be jealous if she were to go and have sex with someone else. But for all his sweet talking, he still can't stop her from buying into the "Just Say Me" campaign.

But, hey—what's Kathleen doing at school? Dr. Bink, the new school counselor, has summoned her, since she was the one who first told Grace about the um, "idea" behind "Just Say Me." Now Dr. Bink is making both Kathleen and Grace take down all the "Just Say Me" paraphernalia around the school—or else Grace will get suspended. Uh-oh.

Meanwhile, when George calls up Anne, who's still at Mimsy's place, Anne reveals that Mimsy's health is deteriorating fast. She also tells him that her staying away isn't just about Mimsy. It's also about her old boyfriend, family life, George, and more. So when will she come home?

Later, on Day Eight of the "Just Say Me" campaign to swear off guys and sex, Amy suddenly has a change of heart and decides that, without a boyfriend in her life, maybe she does have room for a new friend, after all. So she calls Adrian, who rushes over, and Amy lets her hold baby John for the first time. Aww.

Back at school, the "Just Say Me" fad dies out as quickly as it started. (Turns out things are kind of dull without guys around.) Lauren accepts a date from someone named Jesse. Madison decides to "go out" with Jack again, while Grace is still mad at him that she wasn't his first. A girl named Donna approaches Ben while he's talking to Amy and asks for help with "Italian" (right). Adrian and Ricky are back to their same old "Do you love me or do you not?" routine.

Best of all, Jimmy, the son of Anne's ex-boyfriend, comes all the way to Grant High to find Amy. He asks if she'd like to hang out—him, her, and John. But even though she technically has to watch John, she says she could take him next door for Adrian to babysit, just so she could hang out with Jimmy. (Yes—Adrian!) So is a new romance in the air?
