Leo Boykewich is the father of Ben Boykewich, adoptive father of Chloe Boykewich, husband of Camille Boykewich, and grandfather of Mercy Boykewich. He is the wealthy owner of a sausage business, which has earned him the nickname of "Sausage King." He is portrayed by Steve Schirripa

History

Leo Boykewich is one of the wisest characters in The Secret Life of the American Teenager. He always has words of wisdom and is one of the first people to suspect Amy Juergens's pregnancy due to her huge appetite and nausea.

He even supported Ben's decision to marrying Amy Juergens since he met Ben's mother when they were in high school. He's usually portrayed as the voice of reason for many of the characters on the show, such as when he tells Ben off for believing that he can support Amy's baby with his money. He gives Ben and Ricky jobs at the butcher shop as a way to help support Amy.

In the second season, Leo begins to date a woman named Betty (who is the hooker Tom had once hired). It is later revealed that Betty was very upfront about her profession the first day she introduced herself to Leo because she was afraid of embarrassing him.

He later proposes to Betty, but she explains that she may still be married to her ex. He promises to hunt down her husband, who turns out to be dead and they get married in an elaborate ceremony.

Leo takes Ricky under his wing by allowing him to live in the upstairs apartment. He is upset when Ben and Adrian discover they are preggers and tries to caution him from marrying Adrian just because she is with child.

Ben is insistent, however, so Leo purchases a condom for the newlyweds. When Ben is ambivalent about being married, Leo sternly tells him that he made the choice and he now has to make the best of it.

When the baby is stillborn, Leo tearfully breaks the news to Ben and Adrian's friends at the hospital and then later supports Ben's decision to get a divorce.

In Season 4, Leo questions whether or not he wants to be married to Betty anymore when he suspects that his longtime assistant Camille is in love with him.

Even so, Leo decides to stick with the marriage because he believes that is the right thing to do. Betty later decides that she wants a divorce.

Leo agrees to it. He later sends Camille flowers and a bracelet and invites her out to dinner. While talking in the car on the way to dinner, Camille kisses Leo and the two of them are later seen together at graduation.

They get married in the fifth season and decide to take in a young girl who was the under-aged prostitute that Jack helped out.

Relationships

Romantic

Sarah Helen Boykewich

Sarah was his wife prior to the opening of the show. Leo fell in love with Sarah when he was 14, which is presumably when they met. They were married at 18, straight out of high school.

They actually wanted to get married at an even younger age, but Sarah's parents made them wait. Leo and Sarah had one child, Ben. She died in 2003 when Ben was 11 years old from unknown causes.

Betty Boykewich

was Leo's second wife. They married in the second season and divorced in the fourth season.

Camille Boykewich

Camille is the third wife of Leo and his former assistant. They have known each other for over twenty-five years.

She has been in love with Leo for undoubtedly a long time, unknown to him. When she can no longer bear not being with him, she leaves his company, as he is still married to Betty.

When Leo talks to Ben about Camille quitting, Ben says that it's clearly because she is in love with him. Leo confronts Camille about this, asking her to come back to work. He doesn't ask her outright if she's in love with him, but he implies it. She says that she already took another job, and that she really likes it. Before Leo leaves, she kisses him.

At the end of Season 4, Betty leaves Leo and Leo contacts Camille. They begin to date, and in early Season 5, Camille informs Leo that she would like to have a child with him. Leo tells her that he will not have any more children.

Leo eventually asks Camille if she wants to get married, and she says yes. They were officially married in "Regrets" and their witnesses were Nora and Ben.
