Dr. Sanjay Shakur is Ricky's foster father. He knows he's not Ricky's real dad, but he still tries his best to be a good role model. After Ricky disappeared to go find his mom in Hollywood, the doctor and Margaret decided to be more active in his life and really stepped up during the custody battle over John Juergens, Ricky's son, and Sanjay and Margaret's foster-grandson.
